The Fatcreations team headed over to QECP for the day and night enduro last weekend, and what a fun time we had.
As usual Scott and his team of epic trail builders had put in so much work creating some awesome trails, with a few technical ones thrown in. Stage one was a off camber from the start with a few roots along the way to make things a little harder, and after the fire road drop in the train turned fast, swoopy and great fun with a little drop jump that was great to hit when you were tearing down the hill. The heavy rain that we had earlier in the week made things a little slippery on stage 2 and by the time we were off we needed our lights on making things harder still the steep bits proved to get the better of me (Bex) but I held it together after a few stumbles and heckles from the spectators (some my friends, gotta love em 🙂 )and felt relieved when that stage was over. The third stage was peddley fast single track which is the kinda thing I love, with a few drops thrown in for good measure, Craig from QECP was marshelling at the drop and gave me some words of encouragement as I passed. Stage 4 was fast and flowing they had put in a few bus stops to mix things up a bit I have ridden this trail a few times before and it was great that they put them in as it made it different but in the dark it felt very different anyway, like all the trails. I said it after last years night enduro that I really must ride more in the dark to get used to it………but I didn’t and suddenly the race was upon us again, so as I said last year I will ride more at night 🙂
I knew I had lost alot of time on stage 2 after so many silly stumbles, and the other girls were extremely good, so I was very happy to come 3rd out of about 10 girls. It was great to see lots more girls as last year there was only 3 of us.
Ali was on a stonker, which didn’t come as a surprise. His amazing ability and fitness shone through and he bagged a very respectable 5th place in the pro category, which placed him 5th overall out of everyone who took part.
What a great race, hard, scary in places but epic fun, now time to get night riding pegged ready for next year 🙂
